Yoga and Chiropractic
Chiropractic and yoga are natural ways to keep the spine healthy and mobile. Both can be utilized together to maximize benefits. Yoga helps decrease muscle rigidity through sustained stretching. Chiropractic helps decrease muscle rigidity by increasing spinal motion and normalizing spinal position. When our muscles are more flexible we can move through deeper ranges of motion with more power.
Each of the vertebrae (bones) in our spines has to move individually as well as together to create movement. Unfortunately, in our day-to-day lives our vertebral segments have a tendency to get stuck, and can no longer move properly. As a result the muscles attached to those bones cannot move through a full range of motion and they tighten up. These tight muscles limit our ability to move through a full range of motion and often times we feel discomfort in those associated areas. By getting a chiropractic adjustment, we are able to achieve fuller and deeper ranges of motion without pain because these muscles are allowed to move from their skeletal foundation. Practicing yoga in between adjustments helps preserve function and mobility of our spines allowing the positive results to last longer!
